What Is a Pergola?
A pergola is an outdoor structure with vertical posts that support an open roof of cross-beams and rafters, giving filtered shade rather than full cover.
A pergola is an outdoor structure built from posts, beams, and rafters that creates a defined, partially shaded space over a patio, deck, or garden. The open or slatted roof distinguishes it from a pavilion (solid roof) and a gazebo (freestanding, often octagonal). Pergolas are built attached to a house or freestanding, in cedar, vinyl, or aluminum.
JHL Pergolas builds these across Chester County and the Main Line.
