What Is a Post Anchor?

A post anchor is the galvanized metal bracket that fastens a pergola post to a concrete footing, patio, or deck frame.

A post anchor (post base) is a corrosion-resistant metal bracket that connects a post to its concrete footing, an existing concrete patio, or a deck’s structural frame. It holds the post off the surface to prevent rot and resists uplift from wind. Anchoring to the structure — never to surface boards alone — keeps the pergola secure.
